I see that there has been sufficient discussion over JIKOOK's decision to apply for the Accompanying Enlisted system. However, how do you feel about their parents? When they obviously have better options, how can they persuade their parents to allow them to apply to a risky area? Surely they agreed, that's why.... and, imo, it implies that Jimin/Jungkook is truly viewed by both families as their son's life partner.

We dk much about JK's parents and how they feel about their rlship. But we know Jimin's dad and JK's mom support their rlship 1300%

dk if ive ever talked abt this so directly but just to lock in my main theory for solas's best possible "good" ending, or at least what i would consider the ideal for myself personally. so firstly : im thinking the elves are becoming immortal again lol. just to kick things off and get that out of the way bc i'll get back to that in a sec. but secondly and mainly, im thinking if enough "redemption" variables are met there may be a chance of solas willingly making a choice to save/help the cause that results in him going back into uthenera for millennia again - or at best being banished to the crossroads. it's a fitting punishment for the things he's done and doesnt just handwave away any and all consequences, but it also sufficiently saves his life, retires him, AND gives him a hopeful ending that he COULD re-emerge again to rejoin the world - after a few centuries/millennia of being in time out. and also it lends itself to the concept of the veilguard. that he remains in the fade as an honorary member, watching over things on that front.

and as for a romanced lavellan, heres where my immortality hopes comes in to play. because if lavellan were to become immortal there's an open ended assumption that they could make a choice to wait for solas to wake up again if thats what they wanted. in this instance a relationship between them COULD resume/continue even if theyre separated by the veil and can only ever see each other in dreams. that tracks with the greek tragedy/fairytale element of the romance imo. but it also helps me make sense of the process of forgiving solas and healing the relationship. bc in this theory - if by some miracle it played out this way - offers them an unlimited amount of time to work things out AND helps even out the power dynamic between them bc now they both have the same amount of time to heal. which is imo exactly what they both need . send tweet

SWV: A Small Worms Viewpoint

So I’ve been re-reading ORV,

And as I do with any peice of media I start thinking how I could cross it with Worm.

So here we are.

Light worm and ORV spoilers

There’s a few different routes.

The simplest would be a basic alt-power similar to most The Gamer fics except with Dokjas reading based powers.

This would include stuff like her being able to bookmark other Parahuman powers and fourth wall.

And while nothing wrong with that, kinda boring imo.

The second would be taking the larger premise of ORV, that being someone who has read a book suddenly having it come to life around them.

This could be taken two ways, both off which have merit, but one much more unique.

One way is a character in worm like Madison or some small side character that is barely mentioned has read worm and thus would interact with it once they realize it was real.

This could be fun, but is quite similar to a lot of SI stories or ones where Taylor time loops.

The second way would be for worm to come to our world. A high schooler who loves the series arrives to school one morning to discover its name is now Winslow and there’s a girl being taken out of a locker. This student would have ri be an OC, but I think it could be quite fascinating to see how Worms world would layer on top of ours.

And while it would follow some conventions of a SI fic, the added component of the worlds merging would have enough of a knock on effect to sufficiently change the plot and add new elements.

The third and most interesting way I can think of, would be for the star stream to arrive in worm.

No readers, no future knowledge beyond what a prophet could provide. Just good ole scenarios and chaos added to Brockton.

Constellations would be other shards with Dokkaebis being entities of a sort. Scion and Eden would be retroactively gotten rid of (Cauldron would go ballistic of course) and parahumans who have triggered would be pre contracted to their shards/constellations.

As for when I’d set it. Either at the beginning of Worm with Taylor either just triggered with QA as her Sponser, or during Warlord Era so that she has some competency under her belt.

Oo! I know I said no future knowledge, but a post GM Taylor time looped back to the locker expecting to be able to do it all again only to be interrupted by the star stream out of left feild could be fun.

Heck, why not both.

Swap perspectives between a fresh faced un powered or just recently powered Taylor (maybe right after she’s met the undersiders?) who barely has a grip on things and a GM between who thought she had a grip on things and is now being shown there is a far bigger ceiling then the god she’s already tossed down.

Could be a fun dynamic playing on the ORV one of Dokja and Joonghyuk but in a diffrent way.

What’s your preferred Crunch/Munch ratio for Potato Products. Like how much do you prefer the crispy exterior or the softer insides?

it depends on the specific preparation intended! shoestring or straight cut fries i like to be somewhere right down the middle of crisp-to-soft ratio. waffle, curly, and steak cut fries i like to be softer on that scale. for hash browns give me that LOUD CRUNCH on the outside and sufficient salt. baked potatoes i enjoy much softer but preferably with just enough structural integrity that they dont just become mashed and are still like, grippable by the skin part. and then mashed is like.... the softer the better imo. i will scarf down any mashed potatoes you give me but i actually don't prefer when they got the larger potato bits in them. make it approach the texture of like, a mousse. thats the good shit.

the main argument I've heard made wrt the IP thing and AI art is that the AI can only ever combine works from other artists. it has no creative input other than combining works that already exist; which, personally, i would be fine with if it was just being trained on work in the public domain and work from people who consented to be included, but these bots are scraping art from literally everywhere on the web with *very* few opportunities to opt out. even a human artist that's heavily inspired by other creators adds something of their own to the mix, it's kind of impossible *not* to unless you're literally tracing someone else's design, but AI is using art taken from other creators And Nothing Else, which when combined with the fact you can ask it to produce art "in the style of X" gets a lot of artists very mad

that feels like a very esoteric complaint though. how does one measure "creative input," and why does the actual method it uses to create not count? if you can't actually point to a bit of AI art like "thats my OC it clearly lifted that from this painting i did" then it's clearly done SOMETHING transformative. what has it actually stolen? the knowledge that your work exists, somewhere?

as far as i understand it, the main practical reason for "intellectual property" to exist as a legal concept, is to prevent someone from harming someone else's livelihood or reputation by claiming the work as their own. parody and free use are allowed only so far as they are sufficiently different from the source work. but these AIs...don't claim credit for the source works. they don't reproduce the source works anywhere at all. and what they create IS pretty transformative, even if it's in a soulless robot kinda way. it can't really be considered to be "taking away" from sales etc of the original works that exist, because it doesn't actually look like any one of them at all. I think even if I, a human, DID create "here's a collage of tiny pieces of shit i found on deviantart" it would still be considered fair use, but the connection between anything in the data sets and the actual art the AIs produce is much, much more tenuous than that.

I think any way that it could hurt an artist that you could define would also just cover competing artists in general. Even if an AI created a picture of, say, a tree In The Style Of Artist (let's call them Phil), it still wouldn't ACTUALLY be the same as the tree Phil would draw, it would just kinda look similar. and anyone who wanted a tree by Phil would know that this wasn't one, and wasn't worth their time. Phil could draw their own tree, and still sell it, and the AI would only really compete with that among Phil fans if it actually tried to claim that its version WAS by Phil.

This is sort of my main hesitation for the IP argument. we here in fandom spaces exist in a grey area of intellectual property, where EVERYTHING is "in the style of" or "based on" existing properties. if we try to legislate those very conceptual qualities, instead of actual concrete "look this was literally my image it made i published it two years ago," then our spaces will cease to exist.

again, that's not to say there's zero valid complaints about AI art. i definitely see the problem with corporations trying to replace human labor with them because the humans wanted better working conditions. (this is a larger problem imo where any progress in the workplace is stagnated because it will inevitably be used as an excuse to fire people instead of give them less work). and a friend explained to me why it's fairly offensive at the very least to try and bring AI art into what was clearly a space to celebrate the process of making art (eg, contests, writers groups and websites, etc). i just don't think this specific argument is a good path to go down.

ofmd s1 was character driven plot (the characters make choices, that drives the plot) s2 was plot driving the characters (the plot took precedence, the characters were reacting with not much time to develop as characters or make decisions) and imo, ofmd established itself as character driven plot kind of show and thats why it felt kind of bad and rushed, if they were given time (2 more episodes) i think they could have swung it the other way. there was a lot to put in and without sufficient time it just becomes The Plot Needs To Move

like okay zade saves the victims of pedophile and abusers , right ? while he stalks a woman and forces her into sex (using his gun) , like he almost raped her.

but where's the problem ? that the author now is trying to show us that zade is in fact a good person and not as psycho and sick as other stalkers (as adeline thought) , omg he help kids and saves them ? who tf cares he raped that woman and he is sick ! he is ill how can that be a normal person ?? im sorry but yea yea where's the problem on showing him as bad person completely ? without trying to 'sugarcoating' stalkers and being stalked ? i thought zade will be a sick person and the author will show us that but what ? convincing booktok girls or others to love him and fall for him ? and making him their dream man ?? thats so stupid imo

everything is double edged. they took 5months+ to make their decision, but them taking that long gives you the information you need to make your own decision, ygm? if you desire someone more decisive about their capacity and availability to commit, then them taking those actions should be sufficient to show you thats not your person.

imo you should never try to convince anyone of your value or persuade them that your the right partner for them

@halcyonminor: ive thought a fair amount about this ngl and i tend to hover in the realm of "canon is ambiguous w/ the mechanics of his physicality so i can keep it to a level of upsetting that is not Too overwhelming" + play with the idea of him being in a sort of physically static state (ie no major physical starvation signs cuz yeah thats. not sth i enjoy thinking abt) to emphasize the unreality of his situation; i interpret future's "there is more of you" comment @ young as being re: the autocannibalism i also have been thinking A Lot lately especially about like... my own headcanons for siminc + his experience of it; i honestly think that given the amount of time he was there for him being like... Coherent is imo decent enough reason for me to feel justified thinking about things he might have done to get through day to day + that there may have been other times when he was doing Less Bad, especially earlier on i could go on abt my simyoung thoughts cuz BOY do i have a lot lol but. i always get self conscious talking about him cuz of how bleak his story is sdfdsdf

see the way i interpreted "there is more of you" wasn't just because of the self-cannibalism... i really did assume he went through all stages of starvation except he never lost consciousness and was in excruciating pain the whole time. "physically static" only in the sense that there was no aging or putrefaction

but as you're pointing out he was still too COHERENT, he hasn't completely lost his mind, so "physically static" the way you're describing it makes the most sense (and also him and future keeping his mind sufficiently occupied and distracted)

or maybe howard young is just built different

what does palliative care look like when the person being cared for doesn't die, can't die, and instead keeps wasting away even though there is nothing left for the body to break down and keep itself alive
